Employees utilize a course book and personal worksheets. The course culminates with a one-on-one personal consultation with a Certified Financial Educator.
Employee financial distress is a direct cost to employers. How? Absenteeism, inattentiveness, irritability, reduced productivity – and that’s the short list! Imagine how much time employees spend each week dealing with personal financial issues when they should be working.
Employees with financial distress are not only distracted; they take company time to discuss finances with creditors, collection agencies, and co-workers. One study showed that 80% of workers report using work time to deal with financial issues. Human resource departments spend unnecessary time assisting employees with payroll advances and distributions from 401(k)s. And that’s not all. Financial distress has an indirect cost to employers as well.
The higher an employee’s debt-to-income ratio, the more likely they are to be in poor health. Economic stress can impact physical health by causing: headaches, inability to concentrate, nausea, high blood pressure and insomnia.
Employers stand to benefit tremendously from workers’ improved financial wellbeing. Not only are there potential productivity benefits but it is also likely that health care costs associated with stress are reduced. And all of this from a low-cost to no-cost benefit.
Total Well-Being offers information tools and services to help companies reduce workplace stress and increase productivity. Our time management programs challenge individuals to rethink traditional time management skills and provide insights on how to adjust to the revolutionary effects technology has had on managing time and staying organized.
The three part series will include:
Total Well-Being also has the ability to integrate with your organizations Employee Assistance Program.
Workplace stress can reduce productivity and cost your company thousands of dollars annually. One study reports that 60-90 percent of medical problems are associated with stress.
CEOs and stockholders across America would be excited by a jump of 45 percent in annual earnings. But this calculation only reveals costs associated with health care costs. To get a true analysis of the cost of stress in your company, you need to include the expenses associated with absenteeism and temporary replacement employees or the over-staffing that fills in for absent workers.
Leaders who recognize the high cost of workplace stress can create less stressful workplace for employees. Good stress control gives employees a more pleasant and healthier place to work and can increase your bottom line. Start with the information you can gather on your own, and work your way forward. Employees will appreciate your efforts and stockholders will thank you with increased investments.
An informal, conversational survey of your own employees can help you identify the major stressors in your organization. Professional assistance is available to target all of these issues and develop a strategy to overcome the top ten workplace stressors.

Managing change is more critical than ever as companies are affected by both internal and external influences and are driven to improve their current methods, processes, procedures, and systems. Total Well-Being’s change management experience can help your leaders create change teams that, with coaching and training, can drive their department’s change management plan. Our change management consulting can be especially helpful where change initiatives are in danger of failing due to poor planning and lack of attention to the differences between leadership approaches and organizational culture.
Total Well-Being develops courses for both internal and external customers who lack the time, manpower, or expertise to analyze, research, compile, draft, and design materials for a high-quality, full-length training course. We design learning events that go beyond just relaying basic information to learners so that you achieve both behavior change and targeted performance levels.
A learning needs analysis is conducted in business to determine the gap between associates’ existing skills, knowledge and abilities and those that are needed for the organization to function at the desired level. Once this gap is determined, a decision can be made as to the type of training, if any, that is needed and the best delivery format for that training. A learning needs analysis survey is a great way to learn what types of training people want and/or need. Through targeted questions, you can learn the specific content, delivery methods, and time commitments your group is looking for.
A learning needs analysis will help:
Total Well-Being offers coaching to all leaders with the purpose of increasing individual leaders’ engagement levels and, ultimately, increasing those leaders’ performance levels. The process assumes that a leader has the results from their Strengthsfinders 2.0 questionnaire.
The consulting process begins with a Strengths Performance Coaching Interview to start a dialogue centered on talents and strengths. A second coaching meeting is designed as a follow-up, where the coach helps a leader to synthesize what he or she heard in the first session and to prepare questions for the next follow-up session.
The final sessions of the Strengths Interview are held quarterly to review ongoing strategies, and revolve around three questions that the coach asks the leader each quarter. These questions are intended to help maintain an ongoing dialogue for developing talents into strengths, applying them in the individual’s role, and leveraging them for greater performance.
Total Well-Being partners with you to help your team become and stay effective in a variety of ways. We can assist you in helping your team communicate better, manage conflict, work collaboratively, and solve problems. The consultant can also coach managers who need support with the basic issues of leading a team. Learning Objectives for each session are determined and agreed upon by the team’s leadership. Consulting sessions are delivered via:
Total Well-Being offers facilitation services to both internal and external customers who need assistance with leading or coordinating the work of a group.
Some of the areas where we have served as facilitators include (click on a specific link to learn more):
Change Management facilitation can be beneficial when leaders need a facilitator to help their teams move through and understand both the transition and change processes. We begin by meeting with you and your management team to research your goals and to assess where you are within a specific and defined change initiative. We then meet with all pertinent players (possibly your entire team) to help specify and plan your direction going forward. The goal of this meeting is to help your team meet the change head on while remaining productive. While these meeting can be held with just your management team, it can also build “buy in” and commitment to the change initiative when you include everyone in the planning stages.
This workshop, built around Customer-Driven Innovation, is facilitated by a member of Total Well-Being. While not intended as a training session, there are several learning objectives associated with the session. The facilitator begins the workshop by assisting the team in understanding its members’ preferences and talents using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and the Strengthsfinders talent themes, if appropriate. The facilitator then leads a discussion of innovation styles and the nature of innovation roles, and presents Robert Tucker’s Types of Innovation grid. The session ends with the facilitator assisting the team in brainstorming innovative solutions to current threats and opportunities.
Total Well-Being can consult with you to guide and facilitate your focus group meetings. We will assist you in developing your questions, preparing the agenda, setting ground rules and capturing participant responses. We can also facilitate the session so you can focus on what is being said, while still ensuring that the information you need to meet the goal of the meeting is collected.
Using knowledge of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), teams are guided through an exploration of what they do well as a team, and where there are short-falls. Prior to the session each participant completes the MBTI assessment. We then use the MBTI tool during the session to discuss how to enhance both communication and working relationships. We also explore type differences and enhance team members’ understanding of themselves, their motivations, their natural strengths, and potential areas for growth.
Total Well-Being partners with you to lead your team through a strategic planning meeting, allowing the leader can participate in the meeting rather than run it. Desired outcomes or goals are discussed prior to the meeting so that the facilitator can guide the group to the end result.
Facilitation may include: leading discussion, monitoring time, capturing ideas, helping people draw conclusions, keeping discussion on track, and/or relevant activities that lead to outcomes during a debrief. Whether you’re looking at long-term goals, or a one-time project, we can help you devise a plan to get results.
This workshop, built around individual talent themes provided by the Strengthsfinder questionnaire, is facilitated by a member of the Learning Resources Group. While not intended as a training session, there are some learning objectives associated with the session. The primary purpose of this workshop is to allow a team to understand its members’ talent themes and to suggest the benefits and opportunities provided by their team profile.
During the session, the facilitator leads a discussion about the source of signature talents and how they can be grown into personal strengths. The facilitator then elaborates on each participant’s unique talent themes. Individuals are encouraged to compare their talents with others on the team. At the end of the session, the facilitator assists the team in brainstorming ways the team can leverage its talents and diminish the negative impacts of the team’s missing talent themes.
This workshop, built around team alignment, is facilitated by a member of t Total Well-Being. While not intended as a training session, there are some learning objectives associated with the session. The facilitator begins the workshop by assisting a team in understanding its members’ preferences and talents using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strengthsfinders talent themes, if appropriate. He or she then leads a discussion on communication styles and the team’s group profile. The facilitator also works with the team to clarify their shared vision, mission and goals. At the conclusion of the session, the facilitator assists the team in developing specific actions to enhance its team effectiveness.
Total Well-Being develops courses for both our own use (as courses we deliver as part of our course catalog), and for others—both internal and external customers who lack the time, manpower, or expertise to analyze, research, compile, draft, and design materials for a high-quality, full-length training course.
Studies show that, when it comes to training, the delivery medium doesn’t matter. Adults can learn regardless of how they receive the information they are learning. However, depending on the information they need to learn, certain delivery methods can be more efficient than others.
Instructor-led training is the first choice of most learners. Learners can interact with an instructor and with other students, ask questions, and complete activities and exercises with the instructor’s guidance.
Instructor-led training is ideal for associates who are able to be away from their work areas for extended periods of time. If this may be difficult for you, then computer-based and/or self-paced training may be better choices for you.
We offer course development services for the following types of courses: instructor-led classroom, instructor-led Webinar, and self-paced computer-based training, and can help you determine which delivery method would be most efficient for your needs.
Following a learning needs analysis, we can either adapt existing materials (manuals, Powerpoint presentations) or create all new materials for an instructor-led training course. Materials can include:
Whether you want to demonstrate how to use a new software application or train associates on a specific “soft skill”, we can create a computer-based training (CBT) module that fits your needs.
We use Adobe’s Captivate 3 software to create self-paced CBTs that can be posted on the Portal, burned to CD-ROMs, or both.
With Adobe Captivate 3, we can:
Our goal is to deliver effective training that increases associates’ retention of learning. We strive to do this by applying learner-focused learning solutions to each course we deliver and by utilizing a variety of delivery strategies in order to meet different learning needs.
We have a wide range of learning resources that are available to meet a variety of your organizations learning needs. Our instructor-led courses and Webinars are offered periodically at different company locations. If you are interested in a particular instructor-led course, let us know and a consultant will contact you. Please be advised that the availability of courses depends largely on the amount of demand for classes, and therefore requires advanced notice to schedule.
