When I first heard about the health screening last fall, I did not like the idea. I did not want any part of the screening because I knew I had a problem with high cholesterol and I wasn’t doing anything about it. I knew that any negative results on this screening would mean I would have to become more accountable to myself.
Well, just as I thought, the test came back and my cholesterol was high. Now I had to do something about it. I’ve always exercised, so I knew it had to be my eating habits.
In early 2007, I joined the Weight Watchers at Work meetings and participated in Mayo Clinic Lifestyle Coaching program with a focus on nutrition. Through this process I can tell you that I’m a much healthier person. My cholesterol is at an all time low! This spring Nelnet did a 5-Day challenge on consuming five fruits and/or veggies each day, and with my new lifestyle, this was not a problem.
